York Racecourse, or the Knavesmire, is one of the country’s premier racecourses, with a rich history dating back to 1730s.

The course is renowned for its beautiful setting, top-quality racing, and prestigious events. It hosts some of the UK's most significant horse races, including the Ebor Festival, which features the Ebor Handicap, one of the most valuable flat handicaps in Europe. 

The Juddmonte International Stakes, held at York, is another highlight, attracting world-class horses. One of the most memorable races at York was Frankel's victory in the 2012 Juddmonte International Stakes, where he extended his unbeaten streak in dominant fashion, cementing his status as one of the greatest racehorses in history.

The Yorkshire Oaks and the Nunthorpe Stakes are also standout races, with the latter being notable for producing thrilling sprints. York’s combination of history, top-tier racing, and stunning surroundings make it a jewel in the crown of British horse racing.
